BeneCard PBF Client Savings: Management of Opioids

May 22, 2018 By Paul Manz

Client: Pharmaceutical PBM
Overview:  Data Analysis and Validation
White Paper: BeneCard PBF Client Savings: Management of Opioids

The misuse of — and addiction to — opioids is a serious crisis that affects public health as well as social and economic welfare. Over-utilization trends have now led to significant increases in opioid addiction and death across the nation.

The Vydahl Group, a leading independent healthcare data and analytics company, was called upon by BeneCard to undertake a thorough review of the company’s opioid management approach. Vydahl examined the system through the company’s Fraud, Waste and Abuse (FWA) program. To accomplish the study, Vydahl conducted an opioid claims analysis based on a robust set of data provided by BeneCard.

The goal was to ensure that BeneCard’s state-of-the-art, proprietary claims processing platform provides proactive, industry-leading oversight to help address and prevent dangerous over-utilization.
